It is our privilege, on behalf of An Garda Síochána, to host the International Association of Women Police (IAWP) Board Meeting and Regional Training Conference in Dublin Castle on March 8th-10th 2022.

Dublin Castle is a place of great historical significance to policing in Ireland. It is where An Garda Síochána, then known as The Civic Guard, was founded in 1922 and is now home to several units such as the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, the Garda National Roads Policing Bureau as well as the Garda Museum and Memorial Garden.

As 2022 is our organisation’s centenary year, hosting the IAWP conference is a central part of our forthcoming programme of commemorations. The conference will focus on enhancing knowledge and skills, with an overarching aim to provide a forum that facilitates open discussion about the challenges and best practices for women in policing.

Our conference also coincides with International Women’s Day on Tuesday, March 8th 2022 and what more suitable way for us to celebrate this than by uniting in Ireland’s capital city to help strengthen the advancement and leadership of women in policing internationally.

We are working at present to build an exciting event schedule for you to enjoy during your time here in Ireland that incorporates useful interactive presentations, expert keynote speakers, networking opportunities and social activities.

This is an excellent training opportunity, and international delegates are expected to gather in Dublin from affiliates in an array of countries. We look forward to extending a very warm Irish welcome, Céad Míle Fáilte to you on your arrival in March 2022.
